Invited to participate in a panel discussion concerning: COSMOPOLITAN EDUCATION Peter Kemp is a distinguished professor at the Danish School of Education - University of Aarhus, retired in 2007. He has been awarded a doctorate in theology 1973 from the University of Copenhagen and ph.d. in philosophy 1991 form the University of Gothenburg. From 1971 he was attached to the University of Copenhagen as lecturer and professor, from 2001 as a professor at the Danish University of Education, Copenhagen, which in 2007 became a part of University of Aarhus. Previous to his doctorate in Theology he absolved studies abroad, in Strasbourg, Paris, Heidelberg, Munich and Tübingen. Since 1973 he has lectured in Europe, USA, Canada, South-America, Africa, Australia and Asia and been invited to numerous conferences abroad. From 1987-88 he was Waerner-professor at the University of Gothenburg. January 1989 and May 1990 guest professor at the Institute of Technology and Society , Vienna University of Technology. He has been at the board of numerous international institutions of philosophy and is at the present president of FISP (Fédération Internationale des Sociétés de Philosophie), which organizes the world congresses of Philosophy, the latest in Seoul, Korea in July-August 2008. He publishes in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, French, English, Spanish and German. The last years he studied question about cosmopolitan education and published amongst others the book Verdensborgeren som pædagogisk ideal, 2005 (The Cosmopolitan as Ideal of Education). |
