Invited to participate in a panel discussion concerning: COSMOPOLITAN EDUCATION David Rasmussen is a distinguished professor at the Department of Philosophy, Boston College. He has been awarded a PHD from the University of Chicago in 1968 and has been attached to Boston College since 1967, tenured 1970 and full professor since 1976. After his PHD he has been in Germany numerous times for studies in Munich, Frankfurt am Main, Bonn, Berlin, and been visiting professor and guest professor throughout Europe, especially Germany and Italy, and in USA. He holds numerous positions as board member or director in several national and international academic institutions, amongst others founder and editor-in-chief of the journal, Philosophy and Social Criticism. He has published vastly, especially within Critical Theory and within political philosophy. Some of his work is translated into French and Japanese. In recent years he has together with James Swindal edited and written introductions to a series of volumes on Habermas and four volumes on Critical Theory: Historical Perspectives, Vol. I, Theoretical Foundations, Vol. II, Ethics and Politics, Vol. III, and The Future of Critical Theory ,Vol. IV, all 2003. |
